About Us
Welcome to Finlarg Farm Escapes
Finlarg Farm Escapes is based at Nether Finlarg Farm - an arable farm located in Angus, just six miles north of Dundee on the East Coast of Scotland.
The farm is run by John Rymer and family, who moved to the farm in the 80s. What was once very barren with little biodiversity, the farm is now home to thousands of trees in the form of hedges and woodland. For such a small farm, over 9 km of hedges and 40 acres of woodland have been planted.
As a result of these efforts to support the environment, the farm has an incredibly rich ecosystem. Local Ecologists have sited as many as 37 species at the farm - Badger, Blackbirds, Blue Tits, Bullfinch, Buzzard, Crow, Chaffinch, Chiffchaff, Coal Tit, Coot, Crulew, Dunnock, Goldfinch, Great Tit, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Greenfinch, Grey Heron, Grey Wagtail, Greylag Goose, Hedgehog, House Sparrow, Jackdaw, Linnet, Little Owl, Magpie, Merlin, Stock Dove, Red Squirrel, Roe Deer, Stoat, Swallow, Tree Creeper, Tree Sparrow, Pied Wagtail, Wood Pigeon, Wren, Yellowhammer. Not to mention our resident horses!
The farm is also proud of its community of small businesses which take advantage of some of the farm barns. These have been running for two decades which has not only created an incredible hub of activity but also a great community.
Now most importantly, at the west side of the farm we developed the site for Finlarg Farm Escapes. What started with a few bell tents in lockdown has developed into something quite special. All the lets are very different from one another. You have the choice to stay in the original Farmer’s Cabin, a Glamping Pod, a Yurt, even a converted Boat. We also have our Bothy at the farmhouse.
