See & Do
Angus is arguably the most underrated county in Scotland.
With a broad variety of attractions on offer more than any other county in the UK.
There are miles of coastline with excellent beaches, many good fishing rivers, the hills and glens for exploring, an airport, train stations, a dual carriageway through the middle of it, and the vibrant city of Dundee - the fourth largest city in Scotland, on its southern border.
We enjoy some of the best arable land in the UK. As well as the usual cereal crops there are also grown soft fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackcurrants) and many vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and other root crops like turnips and potatoes).
Angus has some of the best golf Links and Championship courses in the UK such as Carnoustie. St Andrews is just across the river Tay in Fife.
Also, believe it or not, we are reputed to have more hours of sunshine than any other part of the UK, though we are not necessarily the hottest!
Here’s a few of our favourite spots below.
Lunan Bay
Lunan Bay is one of our favourite walks and is about a 35 minute drive away. It's an incredibly long sandy beach that is well worth the drive.
V&A Dundee
The V&A is worth a visit if you have time, and the exhibitions are normally pretty decent inside.
Loch Wharral
A beautiful walk up with some amazing views, and if you're feeling adventurous I'd recommend a swim!
Dundee Law
In the heart of Dundee there’s a prominent 572-foot volcanic hill which offers panoramic views and a rich history as a defensive site. Always an incredible view being at the top of the Dundee Law and we love heading up there.
Kinnoull Hill
About a 35 min drive from the farm. Head to kinnoul hill parking and follow the path to the top of Kinnoul Hill. You get epic panoramic views and can see for miles! Also make sure you walk a bit further to Kinnoul Tower which a historic site and overlooks the Tay and Perth!
Glamis Castle
One of the most impressive castles in Scotland. Glamis Castle is where the Queen Mother grew up. It's a short drive from farm so worth a visiting and booking in a tour.
The Mcmanus: Dundee's Art Gallery And Museum
Stunning building and a great museum we used to visit after school. Big highlight was seeing the Tay Whale - a huge humpback whale that found itself swimming up the Tay many years ago.
Clark’s Bakery
Clark's is an institution in Dundee and is must see. Think Greggs but so much better and so very Scottish. They make all sorts including the legendary Scoobie Snacks!
Visocchi’s
If you like ice cream, visit Visocchi's! Rated Scotland’s best ice cream parlour! They're a family business that sell a variety of ice creams, they're also an Italian restaurant.
Drovers Inn
A staple shout when we went out for a family meal. Great food, beautful location, and great service.
